Welcome!
I'm Mr. Hoch. I teach Music for grades 2-5. This is my thirteenth year in District 117 - How time flies! I received my Bachelor's degree from Lewis University, where I majored in Music Performance and my teaching certificate in Music from Northern Illinois University. Additionally, I have taken graduate level coursework at VanderCook College of Music. I have spent over thirty-five years of study on my instrument and have played in many different ensembles. Currently, I'm the drummer for Luna Blu, a local band.
I take great pride in my craft and I have high expectations not only for myself, but for my students as well. Of course, I want to help them to become competent performers who are musically literate and will be intelligent and informed consumers of music. More than anything else, however, I want to help my students develop the listening skills which will help them throughout their lives and it's my belief that music is one of the best (and most enjoyable!) ways to achieve this goal.
